Tae Hyun, Project Management

I joined Franklin Templeton because it looked like a great place to work - a global setting where I could both contribute to, and at the same time learn from, my global colleagues.  I joined because of Franklin’s excellent working culture and reputation, with great people across a global environment.

I believed I could have a great long-term career at Franklin Templeton because of the possibility there would be multiple opportunities to grow my leadership and management skills through working on challenging projects.  Just as Franklin Templeton had been growing, I felt that my career could grow with the company.

What is the best thing about being a part of a global network of employees?

The best things about being a part of global network are the great learning opportunities provided by working with smart and hardworking colleagues from unique cultures who constantly provide different perspectives in a well-structured IT infrastructure.

For instance, although I work in a small office in the Asia Pacific region, I am involved in global projects for the U.S. and other countries which require our team members to be creative, collaborative and respectful of each person’s culture.  Franklin Templeton really understands and appreciates how each person’s different background and experience can contribute to a better outcome for the project.  The environment provides a great platform for collaboration.  As a result, I am highly motivated to get involved and have been able to achieve quality results on my global projects.

The best thing about being a part of a global network of employees is the caliber of people I have the pleasure of working with who come from different backgrounds, countries and cultures.

Working with my colleagues across the globe who are based in different time zones has helped me tremendously to work in a fast paced, result driven environment and the passion with which Franklin Templeton embraces these challenges is second to none. I am constantly impressed and encouraged by the talent we have here.

I love being a leader at Franklin Templeton because I always wanted to work with an organization that is most admired and respected for its leadership and core values.

The most fascinating thing about working with Franklin Templeton is that the firm offers a broad spectrum of opportunities across the globe. The firm transforms you into a business leader by giving you the opportunity to work with diverse range of businesses and great leaders. Being with the firm for almost 8.5 years, I was given the opportunity to experience different roles with high responsibilities, coached by great leaders in the organization.

I love my job/working at Franklin Templeton because I find people here are highly passionate about their jobs.

It gives you a great feeling to become a part of great team of highly motivated individuals who definitely know how to transform their business into success. Working with my colleagues across the globe … I am constantly impressed and encouraged by the talent we have here.

I love being a leader at Franklin Templeton because it is so important to help others grow and develop.

I will never forget the wise words of my first manager who told me that the best compliment he could receive was to hear positive comments about his direct reports. At Franklin Templeton we, as leaders, are fortunate to be very well supported by HR; more so than at other company I have worked for.

What is the best thing about being a part of a global network of employees?

The best thing about being a part of a global network of employees is the opportunity to work with people from different cultures who have a range of perspectives but all working towards a common goal. It feels as if the company never ‘sleeps’ as we are truly global and something is happening within the Franklin Templeton group around the clock. It is also great to know that we all work as a team and can call upon assistance from an office in another time zone if necessary. It’s actually fun to check my mobile phone in the morning to see what has been happening in other offices, while we have been asleep, and it amazes me just how many emails I get!

I'm proud to be a part of Franklin Templeton because it gives me the opportunity to learn and grow. I can see that something important is being built in Franklin Templeton Mexico, and for me it’s great being part of this interesting process of growth and know that I can grow with the company, too.

I’ve been given the chance to extend my skills and knowledge by being involved in many areas of the business, especially the local business; the local asset management company in Mexico. I´ve been involved in many different areas, even outside my own expertise, which is great for my professional development.

Why did you decide to return to FTI?
Because I’m convinced that Franklin Templeton is a great company to work for and I feel very comfortable with the team I work with.

I really appreciate the opportunity to return to Franklin Templeton Investements after studying for my master’s degree in Spain for one year.  I’m glad to be back and see that FT keeps growing.

I would tell someone just starting their career here at Franklin Templeton… Be curious and ask a lot of questions.

The advantage of being a “newbie on the block” is there is no dumb question and people are glad that you’re asking questions. It shows that you’re interested and engaged, especially the well thought out questions. And remember, there is more than one way to do one thing. You could have a really good idea to get something done quickly and effectively, and that perhaps no one else has thought about.

I'm proud to be a part of Franklin Templeton because it allows me to grow and to be the best I can be.

Franklin Templeton is such a big company and there are so many things to learn. Be the one to take on a new challenge, because it provides opportunities to learn new things. You will be rewarded and become more well-rounded in your job and career.

I am proud to be part of Franklin Templeton because this is a great company to work for!

A great company is one that puts clients first, works with integrity and achieves quality results and these are among our core corporate values. A great company is one that cares about its employees both professionally and personally. During “my first” 17 years as a Franklin Templeton employee, I have seen how the company has grown and indeed how I have grown with it.  I am so proud to be a part of that success!

The best thing about being a part of a global network of employees is that I can say “I am Franklin Templeton!”

I love working on a team that spans the globe. The world has gotten smaller and smaller. Working with such a talented, passionate group of colleagues and a cross-cultural team gives me many opportunities to examine the world from different perspectives.

The best thing about being a part of a global network of employees is the support and knowledge of a global firm, learning from different views and different countries how to solve the local issues.

The people that are part of Franklin Templeton have incredible knowledge and are willing to share with everyone. Even though I work in a small office, I feel that I have a large team throughout the organization supporting our efforts in different latitudes. I would tell someone just starting their career here at Franklin Templeton
It’s a dream company to work for!

I'm proud to be a part of Franklin Templeton because I am part of a premier global investment management organization with a glorious history and strong future outlook.

This is an organization focused on Investment Management. After I joined Franklin Templeton my life has changed for good – I have grown from a Senior Analyst to Asst. Vice President in 8 years.  I have a great work-life balance, I am challenged at work which keeps me motivated, I have great working relationship with my boss(es), counterparts and my team members. All this really augurs well for a great working environment. Let me put it this way – My family is extremely proud that I work for Franklin Templeton and so am I.

Stewart, Portfolio and Trading

Office: Edinburgh
With FTI: since 2013

I joined Franklin Templeton because after gaining industry experience with a large global broker, I decided on seeking a move to the investment side and Franklin Templeton stood out.

Franklin Templeton was one of my focus clients in my role with my previous employer. This focus, and the requirement for high standards, told me a lot about the company. When I did a little bit of general research, the story of Franklin Templeton impressed me – the family element really shone through. I saw the role itself, within the EMEA Middle Office Client Service team, as being ideal for my development as well. I was impressed that there was a role on offer, given my level of experience, which could incorporate that level of scope. I was also aware of the great opportunities for global mobility should that be something I would seek in the future.

When I arrived for my first interview, I was attracted by the overall feel of the office in Edinburgh - it had become rare for me to see people actually smiling at work. This sense of enjoyment and work/life balance that I picked up from my initial visits was certainly something that endeared the company further to me.

Did you feel welcomed when you joined Franklin Templeton? What was your new hire experience like?
I was advised by HR before my start date at Franklin Templeton that on my first day there would be a charity picnic held and a dress-down day. Initial thoughts were that while this seemed like a generous event to arrange, I was suspicious in case it was a form of initiation where the company gets the new guy to dress up in his casual clothes so as to stand out. This was compounded by the fact that when I arrived on my first day in jeans and boots, the first few people I saw were in shirt and tie. Nevertheless, as it turned out there was a charity picnic on that day and it was dress-down.

This was a nice introduction to the company in that I saw how employees were supported in taking time out of their day for charitable reasons. Through this I saw that there was a very good atmosphere within the office and that there was a good rapport amongst colleagues. In terms of training, my manager was immediately very supportive in ensuring that I was getting exposure to all different aspects of the day-to-day and that I was included in all meetings and discussions. While this was quite daunting, it gave me a very good introduction into what was required and what would be expected of me.

I joined Franklin Templeton because this company has a great reputation for growing talent. When researching companies, a family friend told me about her experience as a Franklin Templeton employee. She shared how the company provides exciting opportunities and helps you gain industry knowledge in a well-established global business.

I’m glad I listened, because joining Franklin Templeton was the best decision for my career. I’ve found that the company gives its employees the room to learn all angles of the company and looks to foster talent from within.

Each and every day is different and brings new and exciting opportunities. Being a part of the Futures program, I have the opportunity to learn and work in several key areas of the company. During my time, I have been able to collaborate with senior leaders on many business decisions, lead projects which will enhance business outlook, and cultivate relationships with our global partners. I know when I find an area of Franklin which suits my personal strengths; I will be pushed to be the best I can be. I know Franklin Templeton has a bright future in store for me.

What was your onboarding experience like?
When I began working for Franklin Templeton, I was immediately welcomed.

The company opened its doors and provided all the tools to succeed throughout my first few months.  During my new employee orientation, I was able to meet seasoned employees who knew all things Franklin. I learned how the foundation of the company came to be and how the corporate values are integrated into all facets of the company. From day one Franklin has felt like home and I plan on growing my career within this organization.

I joined Franklin Templeton because of the firm's long history, solid reputation and global presence

The company is well-known, respected and has attracted very bright minds. Franklin Templeton offers clients a comprehensive range of investment solutions from around the world, providing a unique work experience to employees in all departments. The Total Rewards program is particularly appealing, allowing me to participate in the Employee Stock Investment Program, purchasing company shares semi-annually at a discounted price, in addition to investing in Franklin Templeton mutual funds at discounted fees.

I love my job/working at Franklin Templeton because of the people, opportunities and overall commitment to achieving quality results.

I get to work with colleagues locally and around the world, collaborating on ideas, sharing best practices and executing business strategy. Opportunities abound given the various departments, locations and courses provided at the company. I have greatly benefited from participating in and networking at the in-class training sessions, which feature internal or external facilitators. Solutions to challenges are encouraged and recognized, opening doors to participate in exciting projects and work with fellow employees internationally.

Did you feel welcomed when you joined the company? What was your onboarding experience like?

Joining Franklin Templeton was very exciting. I received extensive training and support from both my manager and team members. The new hire orientation was a highlight, where I received a tour of all the company's floors at my location alongside fellow new employees. I appreciated the opportunity to hear from guest speakers outside of my department, including a Compliance Analyst that I have since had the opportunity to work closely with and the Head of National Sales for Canada.

What I like the most at Franklin Templeton is that even though it is a large listed global company, it has retained a family atmosphere with employees who share the same values and understand that partnership is what got us here in the first place. A real modern family with kids spread out all over the world and able to speak up.  In many firms, firm values are just text in a nice frame displayed in Board Rooms. At Franklin Templeton, people truly live by them. I can pick up the phone anywhere in the world, and I do on a daily basis, in my job, and know I will speak to a colleague, whatever his level of seniority, who has the same goals of putting our clients first, partnering to achieve the best and fairest outcome. The real bonus to me is that we can also have fun while doing it.

Jayaprakash, Sales

Office: India

I enjoy working at Franklin Templeton because the past 16 years have been very rich in terms of learning, cross-border opportunities and knowledge sharing. While a lot of firms talk about corporate values, at Franklin Templeton it is clearly not lip service and our track record in the post-2008 world stands as a testimony to the importance of those values. The collegial atmosphere here is quite empowering, enriching and more importantly, given the nature of the core values, there is no dichotomy between personal and corporate values!

The best thing about being a part of a global network of employees is the ability to leverage the collective knowledge base as well as contribute to global initiatives. This clearly builds a ‘global’ perspective that is essential for high quality results, without getting bogged down by short term noise. In today’s integrated world, there is a clear need to have a cross-cultural perspective, to constantly reinvent and build a reputation for innovation.

The best thing about being a part of a global network of employees is that it gives me an opportunity to work with and understand different cultures.

What I appreciate the most is that though we come from different cultures, there is an underlying Franklin Templeton culture that binds us together. We try to understand one another and work towards a common goal.

I love being a leader at Franklin Templeton because we do things the right way.

We have very strong ethical values which makes it easier for leaders to make decisions. The core values of put clients first. Build relationships. Achieve quality results. Work with integrity helps the leaders drive the organization on the right path.

I love my job/working at Franklin Templeton because there is never a dull moment.

My job has been changing / expanding over a period of time. I started off as Head of Compliance / Internal Audit and then was given additional responsibility of Fund Accounting. The Pioneer ITI acquisition and subsequent integration was one of the biggest challenges of my career which taught me so many lessons. When we got functionally aligned, I took on the role of FTS Head India AMC and then added the responsibility of Delivery Manager in ISC Hyderabad. The most recent addition to my responsibility was the addition of Middle East FTS operations. This is just my story but want to share that whenever there are internal opportunities, we look at the internal candidates first before beginning to look out.
